Lillian Hester Thompson Ryder, of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, July 22, 2016.

Lillian, a native of Franklin County, was the daughter of the late Robert Sidney and Lillie Glenn Hester. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Ryder; a sister, Blanch H. Patterson; brothers, Ruben, Robert, Maynard and Walter Hester; and a grandson, Michael Murphy.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Ann Murphy, of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Ronnie Griffin and his wife, Mabane, of Roanoke Rapids, and Dennis Griffin and his wife, Debbie, of New Bern; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
